Salad Tongs

I go to garage sales, hoping to find cool old professional woodworking tools, and this is the sort of thing I end up buying:
Remember these tacky salad tongs? I suppose you can still get 'em new, but they probably cost more than the 25 cents I paid last weekend.
I hold them, spoon side down, and slice the jaws on my bandsaw, running the blade right between the tines of the fork:
Two quick zips and the job's done:
Here's my result, a pair of pincers with a nice scissor grip:
Just the thing to keep my fingers away from that hungry blade!
